Day In The Life: Book Signing at Chevalier's

I'm taking you along with me for my book signing at Chevalier's in Larchmont for my new release, A Paris All Your Own. This is an anthology from bestselling women writers on our beloved city of light. I was honored to share the Madame Chic perspective in my contribution called, The Passion of Routine.

I was joined with Eleanor Brown (who also edited the book) and Maggie Shipstead at Chevalier's bookstore in Larchmont, California. We had a book signing, Q&A and lively discussion with the crowd. Thank you to everyone who came out to meet us!

Eleanor Brown is the author of The Weird Sisters and The Light of Paris. Maggie Shipstead is the author of Seating Arrangements and Astonish Me.

In today's video I take you along with me, but before we leave, it's time to wear my le no makeup look. I hope you enjoy today's video.

Makeup used in the video: Benecos foundation, Benefit fake up under eye concealer, Shisheido powder, Urban Decay primer potion, Becca ombre rouge eyeshadow palette, Yves Saint Laurent The Shock Volumizing Mascara - Burgundy Bad, MAC bronzer, MAC 'Mineralize' Skinfinish - Soft & Gentle, MAC Mineralize Blush - Love Joy, Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss - Glamour

Comment of the Week
Regarding Monday's Modest Swimwear post, Jaquetta W writes: I switched to swim dresses a few years ago because I was also not comfortable wearing traditional swim wear. It has been the best thing & the styles are a lot more modern than they used to be.

Hi Jaquetta, I was amazed that so many women resonated with Monday's post on swimwear. It seems that the demand for more modest swimwear is very high and as one of the most "liked" comments on the YouTube page, you show the way the pendulum is swinging.

Thank you for joining me for today's video, I will see you on Monday for my final video of the summer before I go on my break. See you then!

Hello Jennifer,

I have been following you on the blog since I read all of your books and it is such a delightful part of my day-thank you for all of it! I share your feelings about so many of the topics you discuss and I too am a solitary figure-and happily so!!! It took me some time to figure out that I needed solitude to recharge but when I pay attention to that need, everyone in my home is MUCH happier! I look forward to reading the Paris book of which you are a part-someday I will make it there. I was born in France to US Military parents and would like to see where my parents lived during the 3 years they were stationed there. Finally, a quick question if you don't mind--I recall you using a Beauty Blender to apply your foundation yet in the latest le no makeup look I see that you are using brushes. Can you tell me why you switched? Perhaps you talked about it in an earlier post and I missed it? Again, many thanks for your writing about and sharing of the Madame Chic life!

Jennifer,
Your recollections of your last day in Paris were strangely moving. It's wonderful that you truly savored your experience there. Thanks for sharing your experience over the years so that many people could benefit.
Warm best,

Hello Jennifer,

a couple of CDs you might enjoy - Contented Rest The Timeless Music of J.S. Bach and Richard Tognetti Bach. The first one is a beautiful selection of more relaxing Bach, the second is the violin sonatas and concerti of Bach played by one of Australia's finest violinists (he heads up the Australian Chamber Orchestra).

I read with interest the links about people not dressing anymore. It makes me more determined to keep dressing well and not cave in to the status quo. You do wonder what is happening to society - the loss of basic manners, the loss of enough self-respect to get dressed, meals pre-prepared with everything pre-cut because we are too lazy to even chop a vegetable ourselves!

I hope you have a really restorative Summer, Jennifer, and look forward to seeing you on your return.
